Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose my lining color?

In an effort to make choosing your lining color easy and provide a most accurate experience of our fabrics, we offer complimentary swatches for clients who have placed their dress order with us. After your dress order is placed we will send instructions for receiving your free swatch packet. You will then fill out our bridal questionnaire with your color choice after you have received your swatch packet. Your swatch packet will include the featured lace, any other fabrics used for your dress, and the selection of lining color options we offer with your dress. There is no extra charge for this when you have placed your dress order with us.  You may specify a different shipping address for your swatch than the one provided for your dress. Details will follow after your dress order is placed.

What if I want swatches first?

If you are not ready to place your dress order and want to see the fabrics in person now, please use this ORDER SWATCHES link to request swatches to be shipped to you. Choose the dress(es) you have your eye on, adding each to your cart individually. Each dress selection will include the featured fabrics used in your dress, as well as the standard lining options we offer with the dress(es) you've chosen. If you order swatches for two dresses of all the same fabrics, we will refund the duplicates.

What is your advice on lining color options?

We often photograph our dresses with nude, natural, or gold lining colors in order to illustrate the beauty of our lace fabrics. The contrast between these darker linings and our soft white and ivory laces make for beautiful detail in photography. However, in person, where texture is more visible, the lace shows up beautifully on the ivory and white linings as well. You will have the opportunity to make an educated choice about your lining color after receiving your swatch packet from us.

Our most popular lining color is natural. It is darker than ivory and shows the lace patterns beautifully, but is not as bold in tone as nude or gold.

While our white and ivory lining colors may not allow the lace patterns to show up as clearly in photography, the lace in your dress will be beautiful in person, where texture and subtle contrast are more visible.

What about sizing?

Each of our wedding gowns is made to each individual bride’s exact measurements. After your order is placed we will send your measurement guide to you, which will direct you through the process of providing the precise measurements we need to create your gown to your unique shape. This includes your torso length, arm length, bust, waist, and hip size, as well as your arm width, and overall height, along with several other measurements.  This means your Wear Your Love gown will be made to fit your one-of-a-kind body like a glove.

When do you take my measurements?

We will send a measurement guide and bridal questionnaire to you within 3 business days of the time your order is placed.  We require your measurements and lining preference to be sent to us at least 6 weeks prior to the projected shipping date of your dress, and sooner is always appreciated.

Do I need my measurements taken by a professional?

You should not take your measurements by yourself, simply because you need to be standing straight with good posture when your measurements are taken, and you cannot do so while also trying to manipulate a measuring tape.

You can have anyone help you with your measurements who is able to bend and reach, and can read a measuring tape. Please take your time and take your measurements accurately.

NOTE: If you have an old measuring tape, please check it against a ruler or another measuring device. Measuring tapes can stretch out over time.

How do I give you my measurements?

We will send a link to an online questionnaire which you will need to fill out completely for us. It is very important that you fill out your questionnaire accurately and fully. If you have any special notes or requests that were approved by our team prior to your order being placed, please note all of these in the questionnaire for us. The questionnaire will be used to pattern, cut, and construct your dress, so it must be accurate and complete.

Can I customize the look of my dress?

Our production team is at times just too busy to be able to accommodate dress customizations that fundamentally change the shape or fit of our dresses.  Send your request to us and we are happy to let you know if we have the time. We are almost always able to offer more minimal customizations to aspects like neckline and sleeves, as well as adding lining to areas of a dress that aren’t normally lined.

What about bustling my train?

Our sweep train dresses don't require bustling for most brides.  If your dress has a court or full train you may wish to bustle your train during your reception. We recommend the use of a bustle pin, which will allow you to choose the height and style (American vs European) of bustle.  This also allows for the layers of your skirt to remain free-flowing when not bustled, for beautiful movement.  Bustle pins can be found online and in bridal stores and come in a variety of styles to suit your personal taste.

Is there a fee to customize my neckline or sleeves?

Most customizations to the look of a dress do carry a customization fee.  Each fee depends on the request.  Customizing a dress requires a great deal of time and attention from our design and production team and therefore can add significant cost to a dress. Please get in touch to discuss your specific request.

Is there a fee to add lining?

For a dress that normally has unlined sleeves or an unlined back, we are happy to add lining for you at no additional fee.  Please just let us know this is what you would like for your dress when you respond to our measurement questionnaire.

Can I add rush to my order to get it faster?

We offer a limited number of “Rush Order” dresses for an additional fee of $100 - $300 USD.  The availability and rate for a Rush Order varies from day to day. You will need to check with us to determine if this option is available for you.

When contacting us please include:

  1. The dress you want to order.
  2. The date of your wedding.
  3. The location of your shipping address (city, state, country).

How long does shipping take?

We ship worldwide and offer Regular and Rush shipping options for both domestic (USA) and international orders. Regular shipping takes about 2-4 days for domestic orders, and about 5-21 days for international orders (varies by country).

What about customs/import fees and processing time?

The buyer is responsible for import and customs fees which may be assessed upon delivery. Please make sure you are aware of the fees that may apply in your country.  As each country and region imposes different types of fees for the importation of garments, we are not versed in the precise fees associated with each individual area.  Please contact your local customs authority for details.

Also note that some countries take considerable time to process imports, which may delay the delivery of your dress.  To make sure you know what to expect we recommend contacting the customs authority in your country.

Do you lend out dresses to try on at home?
Because each of our gowns is made-to-order in custom sizing, we do not stock samples to be lent out. However, we do have a return policy allowing for refunds minus a restocking fee in case your dress does not work out for you. You can read the full policy HERE.

Can I try on your dresses in person?
Our company is based in a private studio and at this time we are not offering try-on service. In order to keep our prices reasonable for our brides we've chosen to offer our gowns exclusively online. In this way, we are able to skip the bridal store markup and the overhead of running a storefront, so we can offer our dresses at a fraction of the price they'd be listed at in a bridal boutique.

Where else can I purchase a Wear Your Love dress?

You can only buy a Wear Your Love Dress via our website here: or our Etsy store here:

If you have seen our dresses on other websites, they are knock offs, and are not made by Wear Your Love.  In order to secure an authentic Wear Your Love wedding dress, shop only from our direct stores.

Can I return my dress if needed?

Unlike most wedding dress companies, we are so confident that you will love your dress we do accept returns for a refund, minus a restocking fee, even though your dress is created specifically for you and to your exact measurements.  Please read our full policy HERE.

Will I need alterations?

A vast majority of our brides are able to open the box and wear their dress without alternations, however planning to budget for the chance of alterations is always a good idea.  In the wedding industry, the need for alterations is very common, and alterations with your local tailor may be needed with a Wear Your Love dress in some cases.  Alterations by the Wear Your Love team is usually an option as well, and some fees may be associated with alterations.  In the case that an alteration is needed, costs associated with alterations will be the responsibility of the buyer.

What kind of underwear do I wear?

All white, ivory, or nude dresses are best worn with flesh-tone, seamless underwear.

What about a bra?

Almost all of our dresses can be made with built-in soft foam bust cups by request. Please let us know that you'd like to have cups sewn in when you fill out the bridal questionnaire that we will send to you after your order is placed.

If you need a bra, backless, off-shoulder, or illusion-back dresses are best worn with silicone stick-on bras, which we find work wonderfully for our models during our photoshoots which often involve long hours and lots of moving around.

If you need the support of traditional bra we recommend our closed back dresses with full lining in the bodice front and back such as Senia, Zoey 2.0, Ellora, Ari, or Nevaeh with full coverage back, Madelyn 2.0 with full coverage back, Jade, Naomi, Maya.

Note that the depth of the open back on most of our dresses can be made higher to cover a bra band. This measurement will be requested from you when you fill our bridal questionnaire after your order is placed.

When will I receive my dress?

Dresses take about 12-18 weeks to be made.

Shipping usually takes between 2-4 days for domestic orders (USA) and between 5-21 days for international orders, depending on your location and shipping speed chosen at checkout.  We recommend ordering your dress as early as possible so we can ensure delivery in plenty of time.  If you need your dress in less than 16 weeks please get in touch with us to inquire about our Rush Order service, which may be available at an additional charge.

It is very helpful to make sure that our team knows your WEDDING DATE so that we can be sure you receive your dress in plenty of time.  You can send us your wedding date at
