Bride and groom standing in field

At Wear Your Love we make dresses for wildly in love free spirits. From gorgeous laces that stretch with your laughter to light-as-air skirts that dance the night away with you, we’ve designed dresses that will keep up with your wedding day revelries. Here is what you can expect from your Wear Your Love dress:

How are your dresses sized?

Our Made-to-Measure dresses are made-to-order using each bride’s unique measurements for a beautiful custom fit. We‘ve always found it frustrating that the traditional bridal gown experience requires multiple fitting appointments to alter a standard size dress to fit your body. Instead, we create your dress to your individual measurements (18 of them to exact) to ensure a comfortable fit from the very beginning. Because we design our dresses with stretch elements in a slip-on/slip-off style, they fit a variety of body shapes and sizes with comfort and ease.

When should I order my dress?

Our dress styles sell out from time to time. We recommend placing your dress order as soon as you know it is the one. Placing your order for a made-to-measure dress between 4-12 months in advance of your wedding is ideal.

Can I customize my dress?

We try our best to accommodate simple customization requests for our Made-to-Measure dresses. Customizations are labor intensive, and thus, they carry a customization fee which varies depending on the complexity of the request. Some common customizations we offer are: raising/lowering a neckline, adding a skirt slit, and lining or shortening sleeves.

Please know our team is quite often too busy to accommodate dress customizations that fundamentally change the shape or fit of our dresses. You are always welcome to email us your customization request with reference photos, and we would be happy to let you know if we have the time in our production schedule. Please make sure we approve your customization requests first BEFORE placing your dress order.

Where are your dresses made?

We ethically manufacture all of our dresses from start to finish in our private Northern California studio. You can learn more about our sustainability practices HERE.

What are your dresses made out of?

We pride ourselves on sourcing the most beautiful fabrics available in the textures that are most wonderful to wear. Our favorites include luxuriously soft stretch French lace, airy English tulle, natural silk, as well as vegan chiffon.

All of our gowns are lined - most with a breathable organic cotton knit fabric that is beautifully soft to the touch (only our gold shimmer lining is a fully synthetic fiber lining). Some dresses have an unlined décolletage, sleeves, or back of the bodice for a beautiful lace-on-skin effect.

We’ve designed our dresses to be light and comfortable from head to toe with only the softest fabric against your skin and stretch at every curve. We do not have any itchy or stiff fabrics in our dress collections and absolutely no restrictive seams, rigid boning, or unforgiving zippers.

Can I try-on your dresses?

In order to provide our brides with the best prices possible, we’ve chosen to sell our gowns exclusively online. Operating 100% online enables us to skip the traditional bridal store markup and offer our dresses at a fraction of the price they'd be listed at in a bridal boutique. Thus, we do not offer try-on service at this time.

How should I store my dress after I receive it?

We recommend using an acid-free wedding dress box with acid-free tissue paper for dress storage before and after your wedding. Dry cleaning is recommended. Please read our dress care guide for detailed instructions on how to properly care for your dress.

Do you ever do sales?

We do not put our gowns on sale. Our pricing reflects what it costs us to ethically manufacture made-to-measure wedding dresses one-by-one, in the United States, while providing for our team and sourcing our quality materials. We would never, in a million years, want our brides to feel regret for missing out on a discount code, or wait too long to order, hoping a flash sale or big Black Friday deal will happen. Every season we have to turn down brides who waited too long on their dress. It breaks our hearts, but as a small, independent studio, we simply do not have the capacity to make more dresses once our production schedule is full.

When you buy a Made-to-Measure Wear Your Love dress, you are getting a dress that has been made-to-order using your exact measurements. This means more than 9 times out of 10 our dresses fit like a glove right out of the box, so you won’t be blindsided by pricey alterations. By keeping our prices honest, we hope this makes your wedding planning just a little easier, and that when your big day comes, you feel proud to Wear Your Love.

How do I choose my lining color?

To help you select your gown’s lining color and provide you with the most accurate experience of our fabrics, we offer complimentary fabric swatches for all brides who have placed a Made-to-Measure dress order. After you place your order, we will send instructions for receiving your free swatch packet. Your swatch packet contains your dress’s featured lace, any other fabrics used in your dress, and the selection of lining colors we offer with it. You will then fill out your bridal questionnaire with the lining color you have chosen from your swatch packet. There is no extra charge for swatches if you have placed your dress order. Full details will follow after your dress order is placed.

What if I want swatches first?

If you are not ready to place your dress order and wish to see the fabrics first, please use this Fabric Swatch link to order swatches shipped to you. Choose the dress(es) you are interested in and add each swatch to your cart individually. Each dress selection will include swatches of the fabrics featured in your dress, as well as the standard lining options we offer with the dress(es) you've chosen. If you order swatches for two dresses with the same fabrics, we will refund the duplicates.

What is your advice on lining color options?

We often photograph our dresses with nude, natural, or gold lining colors to illustrate the beauty of our lace fabrics. The contrast between these darker linings and our soft white laces makes for striking detail in photography. While our white and ivory lining colors may not show the lace patterns as clearly in photographs, in person, where the texture and subtle contrast are more visible, the lace looks lovely against these lighter linings as well. You will have the opportunity to make an educated decision about your dress’s lining color after receiving your complimentary swatch packet.

Our most popular lining color is natural. It is darker than ivory and the contrast shows our lace patterns beautifully, but is not as bold in tone as nude or gold.

When do you need my measurements?

You will receive your bridal questionnaire with your measuring guide immediately after placing your order. For Made-to-Measure dresses, we require you to send us your measurements and lining color choice at least 8 weeks before we can ship your dress to you and earlier is always appreciated.

Do I need my measurements to be taken by a professional?

You should not take your measurements by yourself simply because you need to be standing straight with good posture when your measurements are taken, and you cannot do so while also trying to manipulate a measuring tape. You can have anyone help you with your measurements who is able to bend and reach while reading a measuring tape. Please take your time to ensure you take your measurements accurately.

NOTE: If you have an old measuring tape, please check it against a ruler or another measuring device as measuring tapes can stretch out over time.

How do I send you my measurements?

We will send you a link to your online bridal questionnaire which you will need to fill out completely with your measurements. If you have any special notes or customization requests that were approved by our team prior to your order being placed, please note all of these in your bridal questionnaire for us. The questionnaire will be used to pattern, cut, and construct your dress, so it is important that you fill it out accurately and completely.

When will I receive my dress?

Made-to-Measure dresses take on average 16 – 18 weeks for us to create (during our busy seasons, this production time can reach up to 20 weeks). We recommend ordering your dress as early as possible so we can ensure delivery with plenty of time. If you need your dress in less than 16 weeks, please get in touch with us to inquire about our Rush Order & Super Rush Order service, which may be available at an additional charge.

Note: price quotes given by direct message are valid for 14 days. Ship-by date estimates given by direct message are valid for 2 days. Prices and processing times are subject to change without notice.

How long does shipping take?

Once your dress is complete, shipping within the U.S. takes about 3 - 8 days, and international shipping takes 5 – 21 days (this varies by country).

What are the customs/import fees and processing times for international orders?

The buyer is responsible for import and customs fees which may be assessed upon delivery. Please make sure you are aware of the fees that may apply in your country. As each country and region imposes different types of fees for the importation of garments, we are not versed in the precise fees associated with each area.

Please note that some countries take considerable time to process imports, which may delay the delivery of your dress. To make sure you know what fees and timelines to expect, we recommend contacting the customs authority in your country.

Can my dress be vegan?

All of our dresses are vegan. We no longer use silk from silkworms.

Can I return my dress if needed?

Unlike most bridal companies, we are so confident you will love your dress that we do accept returns for a refund, minus a restocking fee, even though your dress is created specifically for you and to your exact measurements. Returns must be initiated within 24 hours of your dress being delivered. Please read our full policy HERE.

Will I need alterations?

Because we design our Made-to-Measure dresses with stretch elements and create them exactly to our brides’ measurements, our dresses fit perfectly right out of the box the majority of the time. However, budgeting time for the chance of alterations is always a good idea. In the bridal industry, alterations are very common, and in some cases your dress may need alterations with your local tailor. Alterations by our team are usually an option as well, and some fees may be associated with alterations. In the event that an alteration is needed, costs associated with alterations are the responsibility of the buyer.

What kind of undergarments do I wear?

All white, ivory, or nude dresses are best worn with flesh-tone, seamless underwear.

What about a bra?

All of our dresses come with a built-in soft foam bust cup option for modesty and shaping.
If you would like to wear a bra, our backless, off-the-shoulder, or illusion-back dresses can be worn with silicone stick-on bras, which we find work wonderfully for our models during our photoshoots which often involve long hours and lots of moving around. There are also several low-back convertible bra options that work well.

If you want the support of traditional bra, we recommend our closed back dresses with full lining in the bodice front and back such as the SeniaZoey 2.0ElloraAriNevaehJade, or Naomi. Note that the depth of the open back on most of our dresses can be customized higher to cover a bra band. This measurement will be requested from you when you fill out our bridal questionnaire.

What about bustling my train?

If you love the elegance of a dress train, we recommend purchasing a bustle pin which will allow your skirt’s layers to remain free-flowing for beautiful movement when not bustled. Our sweep train dresses don't require bustling for most brides, but if your dress has a court or full train you may wish to bustle it during your reception so that you don’t have to worry about treading on it. A bustle pin also allows you to choose the height and style (American vs European) of the bustle. Bustle pins can be found online and in bridal stores, and they come in a variety of styles to suit your personal taste.

Where else can I purchase a Wear Your Love dress?
