So tell us, how did you meet the love of your life?

Brandon and I met in a small ski town - Breckenridge, Colorado one cold snowy night in April 2015. I had grown up there, and Brandon had moved there a few years prior to us meeting. My friend convinced me to go out with her that night, as there was a ski event being held at a local bar. Begrudgingly, I agreed. About half way through the night, I was walking through the very crowded bar, when I accidentally bumped into Brandon who was sitting at a table along the back wall. Feeling very embarrassed of what just happened and looking at the cute boy who I just ran into, I apologized for my clumsiness. His response, "no problem, you're beautiful". We talked the remainder of the night, I gave him my phone number and we parted ways after last call. He sent me a message the next day telling me he really enjoyed our conversation and that he'd like to take me out on a proper date. We met up for dinner a few nights later, and the rest is history. We moved in to our first apartment together 6 months later.

When did you know they were the one?

The night I met Brandon, the friend I had gone out with that night turned to me and said "who is this guy?". My response: "I don't know, but I think he's my soulmate".

Tell us the story of the proposal!

We had taken a few days off work the first weekend in August 2020 to travel to Bend, OR from Seattle, WA where we live full time. We had promised two of our best friends that we would pick them up beer from Crux brewery for their upcoming wedding in September 2020 as we were preparing to drive out to Colorado for the occasion. Naturally, we planned to hike when we arrived in Bend - as we love getting outdoors with our two huskies. We found a highly recommended trail and hiked to the view point of Three Sisters. Brandon had just gotten a promotion at work, so I surprised him and popped champagne at the top of the trail. We sat there and enjoyed the overlook from the hike, drinking our champagne and then I realized the shape of the alpine lake below was that of a heart. We ate lunch, spent time together, and then when we were preparing to pack up and hike down, Brandon asked if we could get a photo from the top. He secured his phone to a nearby tree putting his phone in video mode. The excuse? He would save frames from the video for pictures. As we posed, he asked me if the height at which he was standing was okay...and if I prefer he be on a different level (I am very short 5'2). He then proceeded to say "what about this height" as he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We got the whole engagement on video!

How long was your engagement? What went into deciding your wedding's date and location?

We were engaged for a little over 1 year. We had originally planned to host a large wedding in August 2022, trying not to overlap with close friends that had to postpone their 2020 weddings to 2021. However, after attempting to plan a large celebration, we felt the excitement of the wedding just wasn't there for us. We decided to cancel the large wedding and start planning a small elopement that we would not announce until after the fact. This allowed us to create a more authentic version of the wedding that worked for us and put more focus on small details to truly celebrate our love for one another. Loving the Washington outdoors, we felt as if an outdoor hike to our elopement spot would accurately depict the couple we are. We went on multiple hikes throughout the summer to choose the perfect spot in Packwood, WA. The date for us - 09.13.2021 was special. as 13 is our lucky number.

How would you describe your personal style?  What was most important to you when you were planning your bridal look?

I always envisioned a beautiful lace dress with sleeves! I knew I wanted the dress to be functional and simply beautiful, yet not dramatic.

How did you find Wear Your Love?

Etsy!

When did you know you had found your perfect dress?

As soon as I saw the Fleur gown, it literally matched everything I had envisioned. I was skeptical to order without trying it on, so I looked for something similar in many bridal shops, but could never find anything that compared to that dress. After 4 months of having the dress saved in my Etsy cart, I decided to pull the trigger and order it, as it was the one.

Which dress did you choose, and did you request any custom aspects?

The Fleur!

What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep and you tried on your dress for the first time?

I cried, it was so perfect. Everything I could have imagined.

Did your wedding have a theme or style?

Outdoorsy, rustic, bohemian.

How involved was your partner in the wedding planning? Did your families help? Did you hire a coordinator, planner, or event stylist?

My now husband was not super involved in the coordination, however, he did allow my vision to thrive and supported me in helping the vision become a reality.

Let's show your wedding venue some love! What is the name of your venue, and why did you choose it for your special day?

We eloped in Gifford Pinchot National Forest, in a local's secret spot!

Tell us about your wedding playlist! What song did you walk down the aisle to? Did you have a first dance song that was meaningful to you?

We did not have a traditional wedding, so I did not "walk down the aisle" or have a first dance. We did create a Spotify playlist for the weekend called #TrujilloTrain. It was a compilation of all the songs that reminded us of moments throughout our relationship.

What was your favorite moment of the day?

The first look!

Who was involved in your special day? We would love to shout out your photographer, favorite vendors, and anyone else who made your day magical.

We had three friends fly in from Colorado to make our day so special. One married us and the other two acted as our witnesses!
