Tell us how you met the love of your life?

We met at a backyard pizza party through a friend we had in common. He casually asked for my number and a few days later we went rock climbing in a canyon on our first date.

When did you know that this person had stolen your heart?

I think we both knew pretty early on but it took us some time to admit it. Lots of rock climbing adventures, alpine hikes, sushi dates, and movie nights later we finally started to officially date.

Tell us about the proposal.

I went on a trip to Costa Rica by myself to go spend time with a friend and her family down there. He received the ring the morning after he dropped me off at the airport. He proposed when he picked my up 2 weeks later as he couldn't keep the ring secret any longer. I looked so tired and was so confused after traveling for about 21 hours (3 flights) but nevertheless so happy!!

Explain to us how you found Wear Your Love?

In all honesty, I found the dress after seeing a sponsored Wear Your Love ad on Instagram (yep that kind of marketing works). I had been helping one of my girlfriend finding her dress and rings for her own wedding and therefore Instagram knew I was on the market for wedding stuff. I got targeted by wedding ads. I wasn't engaged back then but I saved the account on my Instagram for later.

When did you know you had found your perfect dress?

I always imagined my wedding dress with long sleeves, lace, and a bit of a ballerina feel to it. When I saw the Mila dress I knew if I ever got married that would be the dress. The day after getting engaged I told my mom I was sorry but that we wouldn't go dress shopping since I already knew what dress I would get.

What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep, and you pulled out your dress for the first time?

I was so excited to try it on! It was SO easy to put on and the fit was absolutely perfect. No need for any alterations!

What was your wedding theme or style?

We held our wedding in Squamish, British Columbia. It was on our friend's property in Paradise Valley. Mountains, river, forest .. it was simple, natural, and beautiful. We've had to adjust our plans due to the current pandemic and restrictions and had a lot fewer people than we first intended to but it was nonetheless a PERFECT day.

Tell us about your venue...

Because of the pandemic, we had to cancel our original venue and held our wedding on private property.

What was on your wedding soundtrack playlist, aisle, reception, and first dance?

Our friend played some acoustic songs on the guitar while we walked down. He played Hallelujah for the bridal entrance and Here comes the sun from The Beatles after the pronouncement. Our first song was also played and sang by our friend; Heaven's Knife by Josh Garrels.

What was your favorite wedding day moment?

All of it :) From getting ready with my sister, her daughters, and a few friends to our hang out by the river and the wood fire pizza dinner. Everything was perfect!

Who took your pictures and styled your event?

Photographer: Michael Overbeck

We pretty much did everything ourselves due to the pandemic. My bouquet was from our local flower shop Billies.

Do you have any advice or words of wisdom for anyone planning a wedding?

Go with the flow! Don't over-stress every little detail, in the end, everything will come together nicely. Enjoy the presence of your guests and soak in all the moments. Oh and get a good photographer and/or videographer because looking back on that day is oh so sweet!

How would you rate your overall experience with Wear Your Love?
