So tell us, how did you meet the love of your life?

Adrian’s take was when we first met in Theology Class, but I go back to our first encounter at our university volunteer center. A mutual friend introduced us. When I shook Adrian’s hand, my first thought... “Hmmm...tall, dark and handsome.” I was also struck by his gentle, calm and warm demeanor. Later that night, Adrian accepted an award for his leadership role on one of the volunteer teams, but instead of accepting the award for himself, he accepted the award on behalf of his team whose hard work and willingness to give of themselves made it possible. I was captivated! Not only was he tall, dark, and handsome...he was sincere, gentle and humble. Our paths would cross again when we both, unknowingly, ended up in the same Theology Class. We sat next to each other in which I later asked him a question about a school-related project. That question turned into lunch providing Adrian the opportunity to ask me on a date which left me declining due to the timing of the season. This captivating, sincere, gentle, humble, tall, dark and handsome man asked me out...and I said “no”! I can definitely add perseverance to Adrian’s list of traits because a few months later I said “yes”.

When did you know they were the one?

When Adrian took me on our first date…a hike and a picnic at the park. We hiked to a beautiful waterfall and later, enjoyed a picnic packed with my all-time favorite foods: kiwis, jalapeño hot cheetos, turkey sandwiches and Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia ice cream.

Tell us the story of the proposal!

We drove down to Moonlight Beach towards San Diego, got some ice cream (which I ended up dropping on the ground) and then walked down to the beach where Adrian read me a poem. When Adrian finished, he tucked the poem away in his pocket, looked at me and said, “Well, that’s it. Want to skip rocks in the water?” I was very disappointed because I surely thought that was the moment. Shortly after skipping rocks, I thought I had found one of the coolest rocks of all, it was heart shaped! I turned around to show Adrian in which he was bent on one knee. He definitely had me beat with the rock that he found! I exchanged my heart rock for the one Adrian gave to me. I said yes and we celebrated! When I asked Adrian to look at the heart rock I found earlier, he told me he had accidentally skipped it back into the ocean! At first I was upset because I thought it was one of the coolest keepsake-mementos ever...and it's gone! But after some thought, I was encouraged to see that rock as a symbol of love and that love is a gift and not something you keep for yourself rather its to give back and share. That thought was more of a memento than a rock ever could be and a reminder that not only will Adrian and I have this love, but it is something that will be shared with others as well.

How long was your engagement? What went into deciding your wedding's date and location?

Our engagement was for a little over a year. Adrian found our wedding location at a vineyard. We loved the symbolism of growth, pruning, and bearing fruit that not only vineyards experience but marriages as well!

How would you describe your personal style?  What was most important to you when you were planning your bridal look?

I wanted to feel footloose, fancy, and free that day. I definitely got that freeing, light-airy and whimsical look I was going for with my dress!

How did you find Wear Your Love?

I was on Pinterest years ago and pinned this dress. After looking at 15+ dresses... I went back to the one I had originally pinned, Nevaeh. Go with your gut!

When did you know you had found your perfect dress?

I would say I felt like I knew all along when I pinned my dress but doubted myself and what I thought I wanted. I knew all along and decided to go for it!

Which dress did you choose, and did you request any custom aspects?

I chose the lovely Nevaeh dress. I customized it for the wristed sleeves, longest train, and when I did my measurements, I did my measurements longer on the back since I wanted a more dramatic, slightly lower cut. I loved it!

What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep and you tried on your dress for the first time?

I was filled with so much excitement and curiosity! It was everything that I was desiring and more in a dress!

Did your wedding have a theme or style?

Adrian and I wanted to have a peace-filled, family-loving, get-down dancin, good food eaten, color-filled wedding and it was just so!

How involved was your partner in the wedding planning? Did your families help? Did you hire a coordinator, planner, or event stylist?

Adrian and I tag-teamed the whole thing. It was helpful to bounce ideas off of one another. We had hired a wedding coordinator that provided extra support to the event coordinator that was provided by the venue. Both were amazing!

Let's show your wedding venue some love! What is the name of your venue, and why did you choose it for your special day?

Our venue was Lake Oak Meadows in Temecula...a vineyard! We loved the symbolism of growth, pruning, and bearing fruit!

Tell us about your wedding playlist! What song did you walk down the aisle to? Did you have a first dance song that was meaningful to you?

We mixed it up with some R&B & Golden Oldies. Down the aisle, we danced away to Gettin' Jiggy Wit It by Will Smith (that was our end-of-night exit song too). Our first dance was No Fear in Love by Steffany Gretzinger. We loved that it highlights God's love for us and reminded us that our love is rooted in such a love.

What was your favorite moment of the day?

Marrying my best buddy, being with family and friends, and making wonderful memories!

Who was involved in your special day? We would love to shout out your photographer, favorite vendors, and anyone else who made your day magical.

A huge shout out to Nikki Rizzo (Event Coordinator), Rebekah Dani (Wedding Coordinator) @rebekahdanievents, Mike Shroyer (DJ), and Becca Romero (Photographer) @beccaromerocreative who made every moment special, memorable, and awe-mazing!!!

Do you have any advice or helpful tips for others planning a wedding?

Slow down, don't rush. If you feel rushed, take a pause moment...step away and breathe. This will let you and everyone else enjoy more moments than not :)

What has been the best part so far about being married?

Coming home to your best-buddy, late-night In-N-Out runs, and walking through the days together one step at a time.

Jamie is wearing The Nevaeh with nude lining and a full 28 inch train.
