Tara Wearing The Nevaeh Dress
So tell us, how did you meet the love of your life?
Both working at the same ski resort. Alpine Meadows, in North Lake Tahoe.
Tell us the story of the proposal!
We went for a ski tour. Hiking along the icy ridge, the wind was howling, and blowing me over. Doug knew the smiles and giggles wouldn't last much longer on the ridgetop, nor did he have the confidence in holding out the ring in such winds. So we dropped in and skied the untouched powder and giggled half way down the mountain. There, away from the winds, with the snow falling on us, Doug tried to drop to a knee, but fumbled and fell to the ground, from where he asked me if I would marry him. Of course I said yes to adventures like these for the rest of our lives.
How long was your engagement? What went into deciding your wedding's date and location?
3 months until we eloped, then 7 more months until we had a ceremony with the rest of the family. Spontaneity decided the first one, family restrictions decided the second.
How would you describe your personal style? What was most important to you when you were planning your bridal look?
I spent months looking for the perfect dress. I knew I wanted lace, a deep open back, and long sleeves.
How did you find Wear Your Love?
A friend found her yes dress at wear your love and told me about it.
When did you know you had found your perfect dress?
The moment I saw it, I knew it was unequivocally the one, but I was late in the game, and getting close to my wedding. I reached out to wear your love, and they apologized that they were unable to make my dress as fast as I needed it. I was devastated but understood. Then an employee from wear your love reached back out to me a day later and said that they would be able to rush and get my dress done in time. I was so happy.
Which dress did you choose, and did you request any custom aspects?
Nevaeh, just a rush order.
What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep and you tried on your dress for the first time?
I was overjoyed, but nervous.
Did your wedding have a theme or style?
No real theme or style, we had the backdrop of our home Lake Tahoe, and included our whole family as officiants. Because originally before we eloped, we couldn't find an officiant for the date that worked for us and family. So, we took our original wedding vows, turned them into questions, and made it so all 9 of our guests officiated us (even our grandmothers) and asked us our vows in the form of questions. We surprised them with this request at the ceremony. In the book photoed, we wrote down all that needed to be read and passed it along our family. A really fun surprise. It was pouring down rain and partially snowing, and freezing cold, but it was beautiful.......and they say rain on your wedding day is good luck.
How involved was your partner in the wedding planning? Did your families help? Did you hire a coordinator, planner, or event stylist?
My partner asked me the day before the wedding if there was anything he could do. My mother in law cooked the dinner, my mother prepared some decorations. My sister made the playlist. My brother in law took care of the dogs the day of. The only vendor we hired was a photographer.
Let's show your wedding venue some love! What is the name of your venue, and why did you choose it for your special day?
A secret spot of ours we walked down to from our home.
Tell us about your wedding playlist! What song did you walk down the aisle to? Did you have a first dance song that was meaningful to you?
First dance song: Tyler Childers - All Your'n
What was your favorite moment of the day?
My husband's face when I walked down the dock; I had been able to keep my dress hidden from him until that moment.
Who was involved in your special day? We would love to shout out your photographer, favorite vendors, and anyone else who made your day magical.

Do you have any advice or helpful tips for others planning a wedding?
Just have fun. The details don't matter. Everything WILL go wrong, it will pour down rain on your wedding day. Just go with what is.
What has been the best part so far about being married?
Loving my husband.
Congratulations, Tara & Doug! Tara is wearing The Nevaeh with nude lining and a 16 in court train.
