So tell us, how did you meet the love of your life?

We officially met when we worked together on the same stage at a music festival. We both worked in music events so our paths would cross regularly.

When did you know they were the one?

I don't think there was any particular moment. We became really good friends and it grew from there. We matched each other's energy and laughed every day so I think it just naturally got to a place where I knew I had found the right person for me.

Tell us the story of the proposal!

We have a Christmas Eve tradition where we go into town for lunch and drinks. My son Sean comes too and Johnny had told him that morning so he also knew. When myself and Johnny were walking home later we made some impromptu Irish Coffees and were walking down the canal. We sat down to finish our drinks and I was complaining that I had managed to get stains all down this new coat I had got. He told me to stand up and give him a look and before I knew it he was down on one knee!

How long was your engagement? What went into deciding your wedding's date and location?

11 months. We got married in November in Brooklyn. New York seemed right to us as I have family there and we both have friends who live there so we have been there many times. I loved the thought of a cozy Autumn wedding, and New York that time of year is gorgeous.

How would you describe your personal style?  What was most important to you when you were planning your bridal look?

I would probably say quite relaxed. I love simplicity when it comes to bridal looks. Comfort is also a big factor, I think when you are comfortable you can be yourself and that comes through. I think something simple and feminine is what I was after. I love lace and kept getting drawn to it when I was looking online.

How did you find Wear Your Love?

I found it on Pinterest when I was looking for ideas. I actually first came across the Jade dress initially which I ended up buying. Once I went on to the website, I loved all the dresses!

When did you know you had found your perfect dress?

I just kept going back to it. It seemed right for me. I really wasn't keen on going dress shopping and trying on lots of different styles and I just kept comparing dresses to it so I decided to just go for it!

Which dress did you choose, and did you request any custom aspects?

I went with the Jade dress in Ivory with no train. I ended up lowering the back into a V shape.

What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep and you tried on your dress for the first time?

I was quite surprised, I had just arrived home from work and it was sitting there on the coffee table in a little box, it had come a week early. I went in and tried it on by myself and didn't really know what to think. It was the only dress I tried on and it was quite strange knowing this was the one. It was so soft, the whole dress was cotton and lace and it was so comfortable to wear.

Did your wedding have a theme or style?

No. It was all very relaxed. We only had dinner booked and the rest was unplanned. I suppose go with the flow was the theme! Everything was quite impromptu. The week we arrived there, we weren't 100% sure on where we would have the ceremony or the running order of the day. I picked up flowers on the day and made a little bouquet for myself and the private room we had in Sundays in Brooklyn was full of festoon lights and plants so it didn't need anything else added!

How involved was your partner in the wedding planning? Did your families help? Did you hire a coordinator, planner, or event stylist?

I would say it was 50/50. I was all ideas and Johnny was all logistics. I did most of the research and picked the vendors then Johnny took the reigns and dealt with all the follow up. It was perfect really, he doesn't like making decisions and I hate paperwork so it was relatively stress free!

Let's show your wedding venue some love! What is the name of your venue, and why did you choose it for your special day?

We chose @sundayinbrooklyn. They had a private roof terrace that suited our group well. The menu looked amazing but we hadn't been there before or tried the food before the day itself. It was a family style meal and one of the best meals I've ever had. I can't wait to go back! Also Jessica our photographer from @foreverphotographyny was amazing. She was so nice and great fun on the day. The pictures turned out great and they were a dream from start to finish.

Tell us about your wedding playlist! What song did you walk down the aisle to? Did you have a first dance song that was meaningful to you?

We didn't have any music, we got married in the Max Family Gardens just under the Brooklyn Bridge. As it was public we didn't have music there. The rest of the day we just went with whatever music was on in the place. We did have a juke box in the bar after dinner and tried to have a first dance but I don't remember the song!

What was your favorite moment of the day?

Probably the time before the ceremony. There was no first look or big reveal, I accidentally opened the door thinking it was room service and there he was. We got to spend a few hours together before the ceremony and had a bottle of champagne. It was like getting ready for a night out with your best friend and we had so much fun. It took all the nerves out of the day. We got the ferry on the day to the restaurant and that ended up being great fun. We were windswept but got the full skyline view.

Who was involved in your special day? We would love to shout out your photographer, favorite vendors, and anyone else who made your day magical.

@sundayinbrooklyn @foreverphotographyny

Do you have any advice or helpful tips for others planning a wedding?

Initially when we were considering a big wedding in Ireland I could feel myself going down the wedding rabbit hole. There are such high expectations on weddings and aesthetics that you can easily get swept away with things you didn't originally care about. Stick to original plan and try not to stress over the little things. I loved getting to spend so much time together on the day so I would recommend having those moments together where you can.

What has been the best part so far about being married?

We have only been married a month and half of that has been traveling so it's been pretty great so far. Probably planning all our upcoming adventures together has been the highlight.
