How did you meet the love of your life?

We met one week before New Zealand went into a level-4 stay at home lockdown because of COVID-19. We didn’t see each other for 7 weeks and chose to not chat much over the phone. Four days after lockdown he told me how he felt about me!

When did you know that this person had stolen your heart?

The day that Jarret told me how he felt was the day I knew I was going to marry him.

Tell us the story of the proposal.

The day before the proposal, Jarret surprised me in the morning with a flight to Milford Sound (NZ) and had me thinking the whole day that he was going to propose... The next day he took me to this private beach in Queenstown, NZ and had me slipping rocks. When I turned around he was on one knee and asked me to marry him! (We only dated for 3 weeks...when you KNOW you KNOW!)

How long was your engagement? What went into the decision about date and location?

We were engaged for about 5 months. The location was last minute at a beautiful house in Arthur’s Point, Queenstown. I had been praying about a date and God told me Nov. 11, 2020. The next day a friend came to me and told me God told her the same date!(just a little sweet confirmation!)

How would you describe your personal style?  What were the most important factors for you as you considered how you wanted your bridal look to manifest?

I enjoy an earthy/boho vibe. Very natural looking and nothing too fancy! I loved the idea of a flower crown and soft curls!

How did you find Wear Your Love?
Super amazing and reliable! I wasn’t able to go home to San Diego to go wedding dress shopping- and there are EXTREMELY limited options in New Zealand. Wear Your Love was perfect because it was a custom make dress in the style that I loved!

When did you know you had found your perfect dress?
I had found my wedding dress on Pinterest and didn’t think the dress would actually exist, but then I saw that ‘Wear Your Love’ was a real store I went and found it straight away!
What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep, and you pulled out your dress for the first time?
Honestly I was shocked that is arrived in only 6 days to New Zealand after shipping (especially because of the back up orders w COVID). The dress was so so soft and light!

What is the name of the dress, and did you request any custom aspects?
Ari Dress, 7/8 sleeve, Open back, and floor length.
What was your wedding theme or style?
Super earthy and chill!

How involved was your love in the planning? Did your families help with planning? Did you hire a co-ordinator, planner, or event stylist?

Jarret helped with the legalities of the wedding, and I planned the rest myself!
Let's show your wedding venue some love! What is the name of the wedding venue you chose and why did you choose it for your special day?
It wasn’t a venue- it was someone’s house. We didn’t have a place to get married until 2 weeks before the wedding. I was a little desperate, but I also think Arthur’s Point is one of the most beautiful places in Queenstown!
What was on your wedding soundtrack playlist, aisle, reception, and first dance?
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a reception. We are having one in Canada and one in San Diego next year with our families. I walked down the aisle to “can’t take my eyes off you”, by imaginary future.
What was your favorite moment of the day?
I think hearing our vows to each other was my favorite part.
Who was involved in your special day? We'd love to shout out to all your favorite vendors! Add all social media information, so each person gets the credit they deserve.

Do you have any advice or words of wisdom for anyone planning a wedding?
Make time for your significant other to just be with each other and NOT focus on all the wedding things!

Now that you can look back with 20/20 hindsight, was there anything you'd do differently?
I hated my bouquet. I just would not have got one.

What's your favorite thing about being married so far?
Waking up every morning with my best friend!
