Emily Wearing The Ari Dress
So tell us, how did you meet the love of your life?
We met when we were 18 and 19 at a mutual friend's party. It was instant connection but took us a while to get together just the two of us. Our first date was a ride on Ian's motorcycle!
When did you know they were the one?
We pretty much knew right away, we were inseparable! We were so young though, so marriage didn't come into the picture until much later. We ended up taking time apart while I spent a year and a half teaching and living abroad. However, I ended up getting seriously injured at the end of my time abroad and Ian was crucial in helping me bounce back and recover quickly. His commitment to me during that tough time cemented the fact that he was the one for me.
Tell us the story of the proposal!
Ian proposed to me on NYE (our anniversary) at home, just the two of us. It was very intimate and we went out afterwards with our friends to celebrate!
How long was your engagement? What went into deciding your wedding's date and location?
Right after we got engaged, Covid happened. We didn't plan anything at all for the next year due to the uncertainty of everything. In March 2021, we decided to get married that summer. We had to plan everything very quickly! We knew pretty much right away we wanted to get married at Terrain at Styer's and luckily they had only a few dates left open for the summer. Terrain ended up being the best decision ever, such a beautiful and intimate venue
How would you describe your personal style? What was most important to you when you were planning your bridal look?
My personal style is boho. I wanted my look to be flowy, comfortable, and romantic.

When did you know you had found your perfect dress?
When I saw the Ari dress, I just knew. My favorite tattoo is on my back, so I really wanted a low back dress. I also wanted my arm tattoos to be covered so I loved the three quarter length sleeve! I just knew it would be really flattering on me but also comfortable.
Which dress did you choose, and did you request any custom aspects?
I wore the Ari dress with nude lining. I loved how the nude lining made the intricate flower lacing stand out.
What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep and you tried on your dress for the first time?
I was SO excited. When I put it on, I felt like a bride! I also felt like myself, meaning I picked a dress that was true to my style and personality. I also could not believe how comfortable it was.
Did your wedding have a theme or style?
I would say the style was very colorful and bohemian. I had a very clear vision of the flowers, so we planned everything else around those. Our flowers were zinnias, dahlias, ranunculus, and other colorful wildflowers. Everything about the wedding was colorful and vibrant
How involved was your partner in the wedding planning? Did your families help? Did you hire a coordinator, planner, or event stylist?
My partner and families were very helpful in the planning process. I had a very clear vision so I didn't hire a planner or stylist. Our venue provided a coordinator who helped me with aspects of the planning process- she was wonderful! The wedding planning process was stressful to be honest, but to see it all come together so beautifully made it all worth it! I would do it all again!
Let's show your wedding venue some love! What is the name of your venue, and why did you choose it for your special day?
We chose Terrain at Styer's in Glenn Mills, PA. It is a nursery and event venue. It is such a cool place to get married because you are able to access the nursery and greenhouses for your photos! The entire venue and grounds is so aesthetically pleasing. It is owned by the same company as Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, so you can imagine the vibe there is amazing!
Tell us about your wedding playlist! What song did you walk down the aisle to? Did you have a first dance song that was meaningful to you?
Ian and the rest of the wedding party walked to "Coming Home" by Leon Bridges. I walked to "Sea of Love" by Cat Power. Our first dance was "River" by Leon Bridges. We chose this song because we've been loving it and dancing to it for years. We also love kayaking together on the Brandywine River.
What was your favorite moment of the day?
Hearing Ian read his vows to me. They took my breath away.

Do you have any advice or helpful tips for others planning a wedding?
My advice would be to just stay true to yourself and try not to let the pressure of social media or other's expectations of you stray from your vision.
What has been the best part so far about being married?
Just knowing the commitment we made to one another has provided me with such a feeling of love, serenity, and security. I am just so happy.
