So tell us, how did you meet the love of your life?

We met through a mutual friend.

When did you know they were the one?

There was no single moment or epiphany - I was just constantly amazed by his compassion, patience, and genuine goodness.

Tell us the story of the proposal!

He surprised me at my favourite place: my Poppy's house on the river. He stood on the dock (which he and his family had decorated with flowers from him mom's garden). It was beautiful!

How long was your engagement? What went into deciding your wedding's date and location?

Our engagement was about 6 months long. November was the best time because of Tony's work schedule. To keep things simple (and because of covid) we knew staying in Ottawa was the right decision.

How would you describe your personal style? What was most important to you when you were planning your bridal look?

My style is eclectic but not flashy. Most important for my bridal look was being comfortable and requiring as little effort as possible to look good!

How did you find Wear Your Love?

Instagram.

When did you know you had found your perfect dress?

I flipflopped between a couple of dresses, but Mila's sweet lace and timelessness won my heart.

Which dress did you choose, and did you request any custom aspects?

I chose Mila, with no customizations.

What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep and you tried on your dress for the first time?

I was glad to finally have it! When I tried it on, I couldn't get over how beautiful the lace was and how comfortable I felt.

Did your wedding have a theme or style?

The style was simple elegance.
How involved was your partner in the wedding planning? Did your families help? Did you hire a coordinator, planner, or event stylist?

Tony and our families were so helpful! Especially with decorating the space and making sure the technical aspects were good to go.

Let's show your wedding venue some love! What is the name of your venue, and why did you choose it for your special day?

My parents' living room! Originally, the venue we chose was Orange Art Gallery. As an artist myself, being surrounded by beautiful contemporary art on my wedding day would've been sublime. The building itself is also stunning!

Tell us about your wedding playlist! What song did you walk down the aisle to? Did you have a first dance song that was meaningful to you?

Dad and I walked down the aisle to a recording of a song that my brother and I made for his wedding. Our first dance song was Heart and Soul by Lary Clinton & His Orchestra. This song is special because I remember playing it as a duet on the piano with my Mimi.

What was your favorite moment of the day?

I can't pick a favourite moment! But definitely one of the highlights was doing my makeup with my mom. It was quiet, relaxed, and very special.

Who was involved in your special day? We would love to shout out your photographer, favorite vendors, and anyone else who made your day magical.

Do you have any advice or helpful tips for others planning a wedding?

Go with the flow! Especially with all the uncertainties created by covid, being flexible is crucial.

What has been the best part so far about being married?

Spending every single day with my best friend!
