How did you meet the love of your life?

We grew up in the same small town! We never remember meeting each other, because we have always known each other!

When did you know that this person had stolen your heart?

Brittyn knew in high school that Spencer was an admirable guy. She admired his love for God, his kindness to everyone he met, he was a musician, funny, and a one of a kind, kind of guy! Spencer knew through their developing friendship that she was different than the rest of his friends. She was intentional, kind, truly cared, and is spontaneous and fun. He knew through all these moments they had shared over the years that she wasn’t someone he would wanted to live without!

Tell us the story of the proposal.

We were in a long distance relationship at the time. I (Brittyn) had just gotten out of work. My roommate asked me if I wanted to go on a hike and have a photo shoot (which wasn’t out of the blue at all). Of course I said yes and then we were off! We went to this trail that led to a lake, and out on a dock. As we got closer, I saw a ton of people. My first instinct was to turn around to not bother the people at the end of the dock, and then I noticed that those people were my friends! And another, and another! I get closer and 10 of our closest friends were there. (We grew up in the same home town and had a very close community). I walk down the pathway to the dock and each friend is lined up with a rose. As I walk by, each friend says one thing Spencer adored about me, and I collected the roses. At the end of the dock, he was there proposing!

Explain to us how you found Wear Your Love?

I had found a different wedding dress that i wasn’t in love with but it was super cheap. I got it back and tried it on (when I initially tried it on, it was way too big). When I tried it on, I hated it! It wasn’t me, I didn’t like the way it fit, it didn’t feel right! I knew I had to find a new dress.. but that day was the day the Michigan Gov. shut down the state due to Covid! Not knowing what to do, I eventually found Wear Your Love on Instagram. I looked at the dresses, expecting that they’d be thousands and thousands of dollars, but they weren’t! They were my style and so perfect. Then I saw the Ari dress and knew I had to have that dress! The only problem was my wedding was going to be outside in the middle of summer, and long sleeves wouldn’t cut it! Thankfully, there was customizations and I could make it have no sleeves, a backless dress, long train, and all white! It was my dream dress, truly!!

When did you know you had found your perfect dress?

When I first saw it! I just knew. It was confirmation when I tried it on and it fit perfectly.

What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep, and you pulled out your dress for the first time?

I was so excited! I had been checking my email and tracking number for weeks because I was so excited. My husband (at the time fiancé) was over when the box arrived, and I made him leave so I could try it on!!

What was your wedding theme or style?

Boho, minimalistic, backyard.

Let's show your wedding venue some love! What is the name of the wedding venue you chose and why did you choose them for your special day?

We used someone’s back yard! We loved it because it was outdoors, during Covid, so we were able to have 80 people and our venue couldn’t cancel on us (like so many other places) and we still were able to dance! It was the perfect scenario for having a Covid wedding in Michigan. The people who’s backyard we used was an old couple from our church. We used to go over there every Saturday and eat breakfast and they’d talk to us, give us wisdom, and pray for us!

What was on your wedding soundtrack playlist, aisle, reception and first dance?

From the Ground up by Dan and Shay Alabaster Heart (for foot washing) Bethel Extraordinary magic by Ben rector.

Tell us your favorite moment from your wedding?

My favorite moment was at the end of our ceremony, we were supposed to do a flower pedal exit but later minute had to change to a confetti exit because we ran out of pedals! The pictures turned out cool, but it ended up getting stuck in my hair before our family photos!! Although in the moment it felt stressful, my maid of honor came and took out my hair, brushed the confetti out, and gave me a temporary fix to get through my family photos! After that, we were supposed to get coffee with our bridal party before going to the reception. Instead, they got coffee and we went to Spencer’s parents house so Spencer and I could clean up from all the confetti! It ended up being one of the most fun moments just sitting in his parents living rooms with our closest friends, drinking coffee, and relaxing for a moment in between big events on our big day. It’s a fun story to look back on.

Do you have any advice or words of wisdom for anyone planning a wedding?

Enjoy the day! Look out at the crowd during your ceremony. Don’t be on your phone. Consciously think to yourself to look around, breathe in, and remember the moment. The day goes by quickly, and you’ll want to take mental screenshots. Slow down during the day, have a moment where you and your SO spend moments alone and embrace those special moments. Something will go wrong (confetti and hair) but shake it off, it’ll be a funny story one day.

Enjoy the Day.
