Tyler & Katrina Ellis
We actually met on an online dating site! I always said I was going to end up with a "Big Guy with Tattoos," and sure enough that's what I got!
We both pretty much knew from the first time we met that "This was it." From the first date it felt like we had been best friends forever and for me that was everything. Everything just felt so comfortable with him and has ever since. It's a very effortless relationship, and he is still my best friend to this day.
It was very intimate. Neither one of us are "over the top" kind of people, and I tend to be a little shy. He proposed in our living room when it was just the two of us. It was perfect for me.
Again, I'm not a very over the top person and I love a very simple yet beautiful style. When I started looking for dresses I was very drawn to the long sleeve lace style. I tried going to your standard bridal shops but nothing felt right or felt that it was the perfect dress for me. I started looking at Pinterest and stumbled across the Wear Your Love site and was in awe of just about every dress on there. I saw so many that could have been perfect for me, but the Zoey dress really caught my eye.
The Zoey dress was literally everything I was looking for. In my older years, I've become more modest and knew I didn't want anything over the top. When I saw the Zoey dress it had the long lace sleeves, I was looking for, and I absolutely loved the high neckline. It just felt like "me."
I was really nervous to open the box. More so because I was scared that I didn't measure right and that it wasn't going to fit me. Once I pulled out the dress I fell in love. It was everything I hoped for, expected, and more.
Our wedding theme was very rustic with a little bit of a country feel. We also wanted it to have a warm/intimate feeling like you were at a family get together and not necessarily a wedding. We were even supposed to have "lawn games" like Cornhole and Giant Jenga and even had plans for a fire pit, but it rained that day which put a damper on those things.
The name of our wedding venue was Flora Corner Farms located in Mechanicsville, MD. This is where we had both our ceremony and our reception. This venue is actually a little-hidden gem, and I had never heard of it until I started looking around for local places. The name speaks for itself. It is located on the family farm. They actually turned a working barn into a formal venue for all different occasions. It had the perfect rustic feel I was looking for and was actually the only venue we went and looked at. I knew as soon as I walked up that that was where I wanted to get married.
We both like a variety of music genres so we didn't really have a specific playlist. Our DJ did an amazing job at feeling out the crowd and playing what he thought would get everyone up and dancing. I walked down the aisle to Oceans, by Hillsong United and our first dance was to the song Yours, by Home Free.
My favorite moment from our wedding was walking down the aisle to Tyler. He has such a tough exterior, and it was really heartwarming to see him tear up as I walked towards him.
I did my own hair and makeup. It's always something I've loved to do. Our caterer was Mike's BBQ. They are a local caterer who is actually a long time friend of our family. We wanted that "homestyle" kind of food, and it was perfect. Instead of a cake, we did donuts by Duck Donuts. We had over ten different kinds. Our DJ was Elite Beatz Entertainment, which is also local to my area. We didn't have a florist. My mom and I put together my bouquet with flowers we bought from Michael's. I actually use it as a centerpiece for my kitchen table now. Our venue actually came with a wedding coordinator, Heather Zeolla, who was amazing every step of the way.

Ask for help and take a few days off if you need to! If it weren't for my family and friends and even my co-workers, I don't think I could have done it. If you are open to delegating things, do it! We also used second-hand decorations as well to cut down on costs and save time.

Congratulations Tyler & Katrina!
Wishing you lots of love and happiness!
How did you come across Wear Your Love?
Pinterest! Years before Dylan and I were even engaged. I had pinned the Ellora dress and it had stolen my heart from the beginning. After getting engaged I spent months trying on gowns, enduring the uncomfortable moments of trying on dresses that everyone else wanted me to try on. I just couldn’t shake the Ellora from my mind, and I knew I had to have it.
When did you know that this person had stolen your heart?
The very first time we spoke. I can honestly say I knew I would marry him from the moment I met him. His soul spoke to mine.
Tell us about the proposal ...
Both of us could tell this was a once in a lifetime love. But I knew Ben would put too much pressure on the perfection of something like a proposal. So after a quick check with his friends and family, and most importantly with my girls, I decided to propose to him! I got a special t-shirt made, and wrote my proposal on a softball. Just before the start of his Friday night game Ben's brother and the umpire helped get Ben over to home plate so we could scoot out to the pitcher's mound and pitch him the ball. I am an incredibly shy person for speaking in front of crowds, so I was really nervous... but it was (almost) perfect, and he said yes! I had gotten his whole family there, including a few that never attend his games, so I am pretty sure he knew something was up. I do know he was still surprised though, not a lot of guys get their own special proposal!
