Trisha Wearing The Indigo Dress

So tell us, how did you meet the love of your life?

High-school Spanish class.. Needless to say I don't know very much Spanish!

When did you know they were the one?

My heart knew from the start, but it took some maturing and growing together as best friends to realize that this was it!

Tell us the story of the proposal!

We hiked to the top of Mt Bigelow in Maine USA and at the top he asked me to be his adventure buddy for life with a mountain shaped ring in a mountain shaped ring box! It was sleeting and it was an incredibly exhausting hike up.. So it was the last thing I expected but everything about it was perfect and so us!

How long was your engagement? What went into deciding your wedding's date and location?

2.5 years engaged, to give us time to save up and plan for our weddings at whole I juggled a day job, and my photography business and he juggled his day job and going to college. We wanted something that felt natural and unforced.. Like a big fancy backyard BBQ. We settled on a family friend's farm as growing up I had lived on a farm and the couple had gotten married at our farm, so it felt full circle to get married at their farm this time around! We settled on fall because of the colors and the cool weather! A Friday wedding fit our vibe but the date itself was randomly selected.

How would you describe your personal style?  What was most important to you when you were planning your bridal look?

We wanted something that every other couple hadn't done. As a wedding photographer myself I'd been there seen that.. So we wanted something that looked like "us" and was as natural as possible without looking cheap or the cliche boho look.

How did you find Wear Your Love?

Instagram! I actually bought a dress at a boutique before I purchased MY dress because I was scared about ordering a dress online. But the closer I got to the wedding the more I knew I just had to have the indigo dress because it checked every box. I took a risk... But it was worth it!

When did you know you had found your perfect dress?

When I put it on and instantly felt beautiful and like myself. I've never felt so comfortable and confident in my own skin before!

Which dress did you choose, and did you request any custom aspects?

Indigo, I got the longest length train and ended up removing the back strap across the top.

What went through your mind when the Wear Your Love box arrived at your doorstep and you tried on your dress for the first time?

It's in a box? The whole dress is in here? Is this for real? It's so comfortable! And then queue the tears because I could just FEEL that it was my dress.

Did your wedding have a theme or style?

A "Happy Camper" theme mixed with rustic and harvest type fall decor.

How involved was your partner in the wedding planning? Did your families help? Did you hire a coordinator, planner, or event stylist?

We did everything on our own together. I did most of the planning but all final decisions were made together. We did have a day of coordinator to help the day run smooth (Kate Wehr with Knees Up Events)

Let's show your wedding venue some love! What is the name of your venue, and why did you choose it for your special day?

A family friend's property!

Tell us about your wedding playlist! What song did you walk down the aisle to? Did you have a first dance song that was meaningful to you?

I walked down the aisle to Bloom by the paper kites. It's sweet, and natural just like us. The lyrics have always been special to us.

What was your favorite moment of the day?

We planted a tree together instead of the typical unity ceremonies like unity candles or sand pouring.

Who was involved in your special day? We would love to shout out your photographer, favorite vendors, and anyone else who made your day magical.

@hazel.lining our photographer @steadfast_florals our florist! @kneesup_events day of coordinating!

Do you have any advice or helpful tips for others planning a wedding?

Don't forget that beyond the wedding planning is a marriage that you're forming. Make sure you're ready for that and that you don't lose sight about what the day is for!

What has been the best part so far about being married?

We already were married in our hearts, we just wanted to make it public. So not much has changed for us personally.. But I'd say it's pretty fun having others view us how we view ourselves now.. As a team!
